There’s something undeniably magical about spring in Utah—but nothing quite compares to the Tulip Festival at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi. Endless rows of vibrant blooms, soft evening light, and the gentle hum of excitement in the air make it one of my favorite places to photograph love stories. This engagement session was special not just because of the stunning setting, but because this very place marked the beginning of Aspen's and Richard's story.

The Tulip Festival holds deep meaning for this couple—it’s where they had their very first date. Choosing to return here for their engagement photos felt like a beautiful full-circle moment. Where once there were tentative smiles and first impressions, there is now a confident, joyful love ready for its next chapter.

A Garden in Full Bloom
As we wandered through the gardens, the tulips were at their peak—bold reds, soft pinks, creamy whites, and sunny yellows stretching as far as the eye could see. Every turn offered a new backdrop, each one more romantic than the last. The structured garden paths paired perfectly with the organic movement of the flowers swaying in the breeze, creating a timeless yet lively setting for their session.

What I loved most was how naturally they fit into the space. Laughing between steps, pausing to take in the views, and soaking up the memories tied to this place—it was effortless and real. Sessions like this are a reminder that the most meaningful photos come from locations that truly matter to the couple.

Golden Hour Glow
We timed the session to flow straight into golden hour, and it did not disappoint. As the sun dipped lower, the light softened into that warm, honey‑colored glow photographers dream about. The gardens seemed to glow from within, and the tulips took on an almost ethereal quality.

Golden hour has a way of slowing everything down. The noise of the day fades, the light wraps gently around my couples, and emotion rises to the surface. They held hands, whispered to each other, and laughed as the sky shifted through shades of gold and peach. It felt intimate—like the world had paused just for them.

The Most Wonderful Golden Sunset
Just when it felt like the session couldn’t get any better, the sunset happened. That kind of sunset—the kind you don’t plan, but hope for. The sky turned molten gold, bathing them in light as we captured the final moments of the day. It was the perfect ending to a session rooted in both nostalgia and excitement for the future.

As the sun slipped below the horizon, I couldn’t help but think about that first date they shared here—how neither of them could have known where it would lead. Photographing them now, engaged and glowing, was such an honor.

Why Location Matters
Engagement sessions aren’t just about beautiful photos—they’re about telling your story. Choosing a location that reflects your relationship adds meaning and depth that you can feel in every image. The Tulip Festival wasn’t just a pretty backdrop; it was a chapter of their love story, blooming again in the most beautiful way.

This session will forever be one of my favorites—a perfect mix of sentiment, spring beauty, and golden light. If you’re dreaming of engagement photos that feel personal, romantic, and timeless, I can’t think of a better place than the tulips at Thanksgiving Point.
